The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People(11/03/17)

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People
Habit 1: Be Proactive
"The proactive approach to a mistake is to acknowledge it instantly, correct and learn from it."-Stephen Covey
-Proactive is the act doing something whether its to prevent something from happening or to change the course of action. By being proactive, you can always be one step ahead of any situation that comes in your way. This is the polar opposite of reactive which makes you act after a situation occurs. Whether it's bad or good, you'll be prepared for it if you're proactive. This lets you think over situations better and more clearly since you wouldn't be stressed about getting prepared. It also gives you a peace of mind and lets you worry less about any future problems in the future. Its always better being prepared, that's why being proactive is the best way to go.

Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind

"Control your own destiny or someone else will." -Jack Welch
-Begin something will always require an end. Anything with a beginning always has an end. This is fundamental in creating goals. If you have a goal with no plan, all it will be is a wish. Just wishing won't do anything but taking action does. Before you begin something, always think over it more times over, otherwise it can be something you regret later on. On top of that, you need to know if you're able to plan out your goal so it can be successful.

Habit 3: Put First Things First
“Things which matter most must never be at the mercy of things which matter least.”  -Goethe
-In order to accomplish your goal as effectively as it can be, you need to prioritize them. Focus on the goals that matter first. This can be used any other situation. Instead of going home and resting after school, start on your homework first, then rest afterwards. This spares any future worries and your rest will be better deserved. I promise that this will help your work schedule dearly, also will enhance your organization skills greatly. You'll get more things done this way.

Habit 4: Think Win-Win

"Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement. Nothing can be done without hope and confidence." -Helen Keller
-To think win-win means to think with an optimistic point of view. To think optimistically means to think with a positive insight; always looking at the bright side of things. This is an effective tool to be used as a motivator to do great things. It makes the person think straight and clearly filling them with confidence unrivaled by anyone. Unfortunately, it is difficult for some people to obtain this attitude. Being pessimistic, or thinking negatively does opposite. It provides no confidence and doubt to the person which has negative effects towards work habits and behaviors. With doubt, you won't be able to accomplish your goals. That's why thinking win-win will allow you to focus on winning than losing.

Habit 6:  Synergize
"The whole is greater than the sum of its parts" -Aristotle
- Have you ever done a project or a task that was difficult to do all by yourself? Most of us have, you probably would have to agree that doing tasks or projects are harder when doing it alone. I'm sure you heard of the quote "Two heads are better than one" plenty of times but you have no idea how true this is. To synergize is to cooperate with others which vastly increases the the productivity and efficiency of your efforts. This makes it easier to accomplish tough tasks that one person wouldn't be able to do. Besides, a little help wouldn't hurt will it?

Habit 7:  Sharpen the Saw

- What does it mean to Sharpen the Saw? This analogy is created at defining who an effective person is. It compares to a saw that is at work and is often sharpened to work at is best with people who improve themselves while also caring for them selves. The saw is compared to us whereas sharpening it is compared to us improving and always staying at our best. We always need to keep ourselves in shape otherwise it will be difficult to continue on with our present states. Don't forget to let your body rest, otherwise our bodies will eventually shut down and take a rest it's self.

Importance of Setting Goals (10/31/17)

Importance Of Setting Goals
Imagine archer with bow and arrows but has no target or mark to use that bow. This can be anyone who does not create goals. Goals are essential for creating a passion for yourself in your life. Without setting goals, you would be lost without no motivation in mind. You'll be a sitting duck stuck in the same place.
All of the most successful companies are part of an elite set called "The Fortune 500". Note that the Fortune 500 is a list of the top 500 companies in the world. In other words "The best of the best". All of these companies started with little to staff members. Do you know what they all had in common? They all created their own goals to accomplish. That's why Bill Gates became one of the wealthiest man in the world with his company, Microsoft.

Free Lance- Student Lead Conference(10/23/17)

Student Lead Conference
On October 19, 2017, my school had student conference for our grade check each midterm. At that day, I went with my mom and my sister since my sister also needed to go to her conference.
When we arrived, I was surprised how few people their were who showed up for the conferences. Usually, these conferences are filled students but this time, it was different.
We first went to my sister's conference since her classroom was the closest. I got bored so I left to see if any of my friends were here but I wasn't too sure if they were.
After some times, I finally found one of my friends. I turns out he went to his conference a while ago but he had two sisters so he was stuck here. We laughed and I stayed with him for the time being.

Six Rules to Make People Like You (10/13/17)

Six Rules to Make People Like You

Rule 1: Become genuinely interested in other people.
- Being open to new people gives you a lot of opportunities to become acquainted with them. Maybe even becoming friends with them. This makes people aware that you are okay with getting to know them whether its their culture or hobbies. Being interested in them makes them more interested in you, eventually becoming a friend or at least an acquaintance.

“Be genuinely interested in everyone you meet and everyone you meet will be genuinely interested in you” -Rasheed Ogunlaru

Rule 2: Smile

Rule 3: Remember names

-To remember names shows how much you care. People called by  their names makes them think about how much you care. Making friends always start with know people's names. If you don't, how will you be able to communicate with them effectively? That is why knowing the names is an important first step to making friends.

Rule 4: Be a good listener. Encourage others to talk about themselves.

-Real friends are the ones who listen to you. If you want to make friends, you have to learn how to listen. Otherwise, people will fell not cared for and that wouldn't be good for making friends or at least like you. You wouldn't want a friend to not hear you out at your time of need, as so to other people. This rule is fundamental and important if you are looking for friends.

Rule 5: Talk in terms of the other man's interest.

- People usually only listen to the things they want to listen the most. Making people like you will require you to dive in conversations that others are interested in. Most of the time, people won't be as interested to your topics as they are to theirs. Talking about what they are interested in also makes them believe that you care about their interests creating trust in the process. This is a very effective way to make new friends.

Rule 6: Make the other person feel important--and do it sincerely.

- This final rule is a combination of all the other rules. To make someone feel important requires you to talk in their interest, be a good listener, remember their name, and last but not least, smile. If these are not applied, the final result may not be in your interest. Making someone feel important is the final step in making a new friend.

Final Reflection:
In conclusion, these rules will be the keys that will allow people to like you, or better yet become your friends. Not all of these rules will be easy to follow but the results will always work to your favor. These rules really gave me a new mind set into making friends. The only problems with these rules is that there are only six rules rather than more rules. The other problem is everyone is different and have different interests. It will be difficult to please particular interests of a person especially if you have no desire to be interested. Overall, these rules are a starting guide in making friends and prove to be worth the effort.

The Six Attitudes of High Achievers (9/20/17)

The Six Attitudes of Higher Achievers
      1. Make No Small Plan: Plan BIG
-Planning only small plans will only limit you to achieve small rewards. If you plan big goals, they you will gain big rewards. Big plans will be more difficult to achieve than small plans but the work will have better rewards; gaining more than you would have ever expected. It is only common sense to gain more but planning more. Planning big can also lead you to being more successful because there would be more thought into the plan than a small plan. Big plans are well worth the effort.

     2. Do what they fear
     - Do the things many others fear. These things can be very risky but can be very fruitful. Many people are afraid to take a leap to accomplish a certain goal. This sets the people who are not afraid to take that risk apart from those who are afraid of it. This will most likely cast you as an oddball from the crowd but that does not matter since you will be rewarded for your efforts. Taking that leap shows more bravery than most people in the world.

   3. Willingness to Prepare
-Being prepared will allow you to get tasks done more efficiently. This let's you be ready for any unexpected events or accidents. By being prepared, you save time and energy that you can use for something else. You also do not have to stress over it because you'll already be prepared with it. This act of being proactive is quite essential to our daily lives. You can never be to well prepared.

 4. Willing to Risk Failure
  - Taking a leap forward will always have its risks. In fact, life is filled with risks. You never know if you'll succeed or fail until it happens. That's the joy of taking risks, you can win big or lose big. It all depends if its worth it or not. Many people avoid taking risks because they aren't willing to sacrifice something if they don't succeed. You can't get any where if you stay in one spot. To win big, you have to risk losing big.

5. Willing to be Taught
  - People who allow themselves to learn are in a path to become a high-achiever. These people do not have a shred of pride which enables them to be taught by anyone for anything. Accepting to be taught let's us become more open to new teachings if not, more teachings. Ultimately, the only one who can make us change in that kind of person is ourselves. We must accept the fact we do not know everything and there will be people smarter than us. If not, you will have trouble accepting teachings from other whether it's in the medical field, culinary arts, or any other activity.

The 9 Ways Reflection (9/18/17)

9 Ways Reflection
The 9 ways to be happy has demonstrated the paths to take in order to gain happy, meaningful life. Writing these ways really did introduce me to another perspective I haven't seen before. I am somewhat interested in using these ways in my everyday life. I'm already happy so maybe these ways can create a better foundation on the happiness that I already have. By doing this, It would be hard to to lose that happiness. Gordon B. Hinckley had the right idea about happiness but I believe that happiness is more than these 9 ways. I do not think happiness will be obtain by only do these 9 ways. There something more sophisticated; something that doesn't meet the eye. I believe this way is called acceptance. Acceptance that our lives are not perfect, neither are we. These 9 ways are well on  their way to happiness but I believe it's not the sole and only path towards it. There is always something more than it meets the eye.
