The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People(11/03/17)

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People
Habit 1: Be Proactive
"The proactive approach to a mistake is to acknowledge it instantly, correct and learn from it."-Stephen Covey
-Proactive is the act doing something whether its to prevent something from happening or to change the course of action. By being proactive, you can always be one step ahead of any situation that comes in your way. This is the polar opposite of reactive which makes you act after a situation occurs. Whether it's bad or good, you'll be prepared for it if you're proactive. This lets you think over situations better and more clearly since you wouldn't be stressed about getting prepared. It also gives you a peace of mind and lets you worry less about any future problems in the future. Its always better being prepared, that's why being proactive is the best way to go.

Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind

"Control your own destiny or someone else will." -Jack Welch
-Begin something will always require an end. Anything with a beginning always has an end. This is fundamental in creating goals. If you have a goal with no plan, all it will be is a wish. Just wishing won't do anything but taking action does. Before you begin something, always think over it more times over, otherwise it can be something you regret later on. On top of that, you need to know if you're able to plan out your goal so it can be successful.

Habit 3: Put First Things First
“Things which matter most must never be at the mercy of things which matter least.”  -Goethe
-In order to accomplish your goal as effectively as it can be, you need to prioritize them. Focus on the goals that matter first. This can be used any other situation. Instead of going home and resting after school, start on your homework first, then rest afterwards. This spares any future worries and your rest will be better deserved. I promise that this will help your work schedule dearly, also will enhance your organization skills greatly. You'll get more things done this way.

Habit 4: Think Win-Win

"Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement. Nothing can be done without hope and confidence." -Helen Keller
-To think win-win means to think with an optimistic point of view. To think optimistically means to think with a positive insight; always looking at the bright side of things. This is an effective tool to be used as a motivator to do great things. It makes the person think straight and clearly filling them with confidence unrivaled by anyone. Unfortunately, it is difficult for some people to obtain this attitude. Being pessimistic, or thinking negatively does opposite. It provides no confidence and doubt to the person which has negative effects towards work habits and behaviors. With doubt, you won't be able to accomplish your goals. That's why thinking win-win will allow you to focus on winning than losing.

Habit 6:  Synergize
"The whole is greater than the sum of its parts" -Aristotle
- Have you ever done a project or a task that was difficult to do all by yourself? Most of us have, you probably would have to agree that doing tasks or projects are harder when doing it alone. I'm sure you heard of the quote "Two heads are better than one" plenty of times but you have no idea how true this is. To synergize is to cooperate with others which vastly increases the the productivity and efficiency of your efforts. This makes it easier to accomplish tough tasks that one person wouldn't be able to do. Besides, a little help wouldn't hurt will it?

Habit 7:  Sharpen the Saw

- What does it mean to Sharpen the Saw? This analogy is created at defining who an effective person is. It compares to a saw that is at work and is often sharpened to work at is best with people who improve themselves while also caring for them selves. The saw is compared to us whereas sharpening it is compared to us improving and always staying at our best. We always need to keep ourselves in shape otherwise it will be difficult to continue on with our present states. Don't forget to let your body rest, otherwise our bodies will eventually shut down and take a rest it's self.
